As a way to end the controversy over the proposed World Trade Center mosque, Donald Trump said he offered to buy the site for $6 million, but was turned down by its developer. Trump added that he has no particular interest in the location as a real estate investment, but instead wants to diffuse an inflammatory situation, he said on ‘Live With Regis and Kelly.’
“I don’t even like the location,” Trump said. “You know, I actually said in my letter [to the developer], I said, ‘I don’t really want it. I don’t like the location. It will be my worst location, but I just would like to see the controversy end.’ … And, you know, one of the things I told him, ‘You could create such good will if you went and made this deal. It would be unbelievable. Everybody would love you.'”
